My journey to Conntac: From college into the tech world

25.08.2025

About our software developer Nikita

From an internship to a permanent position in the softwaredevelopment team: Nikita's journey to Conntac shows how tech talent can grow at Conntac. He is now an integral part of our team and, with his expertise in app development, ensures the continuous development of our MyProvider app. In our interview, he talks about what inspires him about his job — and what developers can expect at Conntac.

From university to our team: Nikita's start at Conntac

Nikita has been part of the development team at Conntac since 2022. His journey to the company began during his studies at University Augsburg  — rather by chance:

“I actually found Conntac at the Augsburg Technical University of Applied Sciences Business Contact Fair. ”

Actually looking for an internship as an iOS developer, he discovered the company, signed up for an interview spontaneously — and stuck around.

The rest was history: from invitation to an interview, to a trial day, to the contract offer. His mandatory internship began in September 2022 — working four days a week in addition to his studies. The start went smoothly — both in terms of technical conditions and team dynamics. From the outset, the focus was on productive systems and real projects, in particular around the MyProvider app.

Get involved, help shape and take responsibility

Even as an intern, Nikita worked deeply in app development — not on secondary topics, but on the real product.

“I was immediately involved in app development. Of course, there was training in the first week. But then I had the same responsibilities as my full-time colleagues”

The work was by no means superficial:

“Technically, it was at a high level. It is not the case that an intern just serves someone or prints out papers — no, you are allowed to collaborate with other areas in regular work. ”

His team supported him closely. He particularly remembers the helpfulness of his colleagues in the first few months. The corporate culture also convinced him early on:

“After two weeks, my team wanted to go to the beer garden spontaneously — I decided to go with them. It was very friendly and very pleasant. ”

His path shows: From interns to full-time employees — everyone is given room to develop.

Broad knowledge instead of narrow specialization

What he particularly likes about his time at Conntac: The range of tasks.

“I had topics ranging from UI, backend, to publishing in app stores”

It is particularly important for him to leave his own comfort zone. This attitude has shaped him:

“By now, I would be ready to apply as both an iOS and Android developer. This is of course a big development for me because I no longer have to limit myself to one area. ”

Technical responsibility and team collaboration

A central project for Nikita was migrating the app to Qt 6: “I spent around six months doing this directly.” Even with current topics such as new security requirements and the integration of OAuth 2.0 He contributes his know-how:

“This means that we no longer have to process sensitive data ourselves — everything is centralized and secure. ”

In doing so, he likes to go ahead technologically:

“I'm always active to ensure that we use the latest version and don't get stuck with long-term supported versions. ”

It is important to him that the app remains “stable, secure, encrypted and usable with all new devices.”

What he particularly appreciates about Conntac: flat structures, direct communication and active knowledge transfer.

“We review each other — it happens naturally. ”

For students who are thinking about getting started, he has clear advice: Don't be afraid of complexity.

“Our code base is big — but no one leaves you hanging. Everyone's helping out. ”

Growing with responsibility

Through his time at Conntac, Nikita has not only learned a lot professionally, but also about himself: “I've learned that I can learn and combine several topics simultaneously.” This versatility is a decisive advantage for him in software development — and is expressly desired at Conntac.

Whether it's new programming languages or security standards: Nikita remains curious and actively contributes his knowledge to Conntac.
